"Love Stitches"

      A ministry of Berean Baptist Church is one which utilizes the sewing, knitting, and crocheting skills and talents of our lady members and their friends. The group meets twice a month to pray, plan, and sew for the under privileged children of Appalachia, and some of the sewing is also done by the ladies in their homes as their time dictates. The ladies report that they are blessed by what they are doing and love the fellowship. The group, "Love Stitches," makes the clothing and 4 times each year they ship the clothes, blankets, and tote bags, plus other items that they purchase, such as underwear, socks, and personal grooming articles to the organization that they are affiliated with in Potomac, Maryland, "TLC Ministeries, INC."
      The lady that run the "TLC Ministeries, Inc." has decided to retire and has handed off the "TLC Ministeries, Inc." to "Prayers To Action, INC" located in Big Clifty, Kentucky.
      This group, "Prayers To Action, Inc.", is in charge of distributing the items, made by "Love Stitches," to the children. They work with several churches and schools in the Appalachian area in order to know where the clothing needs to be distributed. The ladies at Berean Baptist Church began this endeavor by faith making their needs known unto the Lord. From the first day, they received monetary donations, and later, donations of fabric and sewing notions, as well as, more donations of money to help supply needed items.

      "Love Stitches" send their first production of handmade clothing in October 2013 for the Christmas shipment. The ladies request, "Please pray for us as we endeavor to fill a need, because many of these children have never had a new outfit of clothes. Pray with us that they will see that because of the Lord Jesus Christ, there are people who love and care for them."

      The sewing ministry was initiated by one of our church members, Columbia Hager, after being made aware of TLC Ministries, Inc., as seen on the TV show, "Sewing with Nancy."
